Your support has allowed us to help. Thank you so very much.
You have provided critical funding that has allowed Hemlock Robotics to make a real difference in the lives of our children and our community. Our core mission is to provide STEM education opportunities and to inspire students to explore careers in Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics. But the program provides many more opportunities for students to grow. Communication, cooperation, strategic thinking, and community outreach are all core values. And with the crisis created by the coronavirus pandemic another core value, Compassion has come into focus.
COVID-19 has also given the team a chance to reach out to those on the front lines and help by providing PPE’s. Over the years, with your help, we have built 3D printing capabilities and our students have developed skills that can be applied to help our medical community at these critical times. What a blessing this has been. In the last few weeks we have 3D printed and distributed:
2,000 + - mask extenders
200 + - shield visors
20 + - N95 type masks
Here’s a link to a nice article in the Midland Daily News.
We continue to print more every day and have sent supplies to Sparrow Hospital, Covenant, St. Mary’s, and other facilities.
This is an incredible learning opportunity for our students that makes Public Health issues real and provides true life lessons.
Our robotics seasons ended prematurely, just as the school year has - but we’ve continued to meet with our students via video conferencing, emails, texts, and phone calls. The STEM Center will be constructed this summer and educational programming will happen as soon as social distancing restrictions are relaxed.
I hope that these pictures put a smile on your face!
